The European Campaign to End the Siege on Gaza has joined forces with the "Let Palestinians Study" campaign to announce a week of activities on university campuses across Europe in February 2009.
A successful Let Palestinians Study meeting took place at Coventry University on 22 October. A diverse audience, including a majority of the Students' Union officer team, heard about the plight of students trapped in Gaza and what could be done to show solidarity and campaign for their release. An introductory speech on the situation in Gaza and how the human right to education was being denied to the Palestinians was followed by an enjoyable debate session where many people asked questions and gave their views on the best way to take campaigning forward.
An online campaign was launched on Sunday 10.8.2008, aims at the right of Palestinian students in Gaza to access their studies abroad. The campaign complements the legal assistance that Gisha (Legal centre for freedom of movement) is providing to individual students in order to help them reach their universities.
